Case Study of Working Urethane Trommel Screens
A gold mine in northern Ontario, Canada, milling 6,000 tons/day has two Ball Mills that are 16' x 21' with 41-3/4" I.D. x 83-1/8" long trommel screens installed to catch tramp steel to protect pumps and ceramic lined cyclones. They tried punched plate but found it wore out very fast from both corrosion and abrasion.
Then they went to punched rubber with steel backing, but it very quickly plugged with near size particles and had to be removed frequently. They installed Durex-Camline modular urethane trommel screens and found virtually no plugging. Durex-Camline urethane screen surfaces are expected to provide 5 times the life of punched plate.
